Simple 'Uncontested" Divorces vs. 'Contested' Divorces.

Generally, simple divorce cases are referred to as 'uncontested' divorces. Here are some of the basic requirements for a 'uncontested' divorce in Colorado:

  • At least one of the spouses must testify that the marriage is 'irretrievably broken.'
  • At least one of the spouses must have been domiciled in Colorado during the 90 days preceding the filing. The intent to reside in Colorado governs the determination of domicile.
  • Colorado requires a 91-day 'cooling off' period between the filing of the marriage dissolution and the entry of the final divorce decree (even if all parties agree).
  • There are no disputes with regards to the property and debt division.
  • There are no contested child custody matters.

Should your case meet the above-listed requirements, you may take advantage of the lower rate for 'uncontested divorces' offered by Colorado Law Group. Please contact us at 720-262-2711.

In the alternative, your case would be considered a complicated one, meaning that the time and fees required to complete your divorce will exceed the advertised 'no fault' rate. To obtain more information about the anticipated legal fees and cost in your case, please contact Colorado Law Group at 720-262-2711.
